Cars for neighbors is of course a great program but they should reconsider their partnership with Meineke or partner with a different car repair shop so people can have a choice. Meineke totally takes advantage of the counties money. Here is my experience.. Our family used the Cars for Neighbors program through the county and recieved a grant to get a few things fixed on our car. Meineke totally took advantage of this grant to say the least. I explained to the man at the front desk that my air conditioning/heater keeps cutting on and off. I told him that the issue was NOT the blower motor (my husband had already bought one for 80$ and plugged it in himself and it did not fix the issue so we knew this before I even went in to Meineke) I explained this to him in hopes they would actually find the real issue, and fix it. He said he would take care of it and do whatever needs to be fixed to meet the 650$ grant amount. I trusted him and went to go sit in the waiting room. A little over an hour goes by and they are done. He shows me the work order and explains to me what was done. Almost 400$ of the grant was used to put a new blower motor in! I felt totally disrespected as if he didnt take me serious at all when I told him the issue was not the blower motor. But he said it was fixed so, okay, I brush off the annoyance that I was totally ignored and I go out to my car and litereally as soon as I turn my car on my air is NOT WORKING!!! I immediately go back inside, he sends a mechanic out and of course the air blew back on for the 2 mins he came out. So they tell me to come back when it cuts off again. Such a waste of my time. My air conditioning was never fixed, the same issue continued of it cutting on and off and it still does till this day. What blows my mind is they charged more than double in blower motor parts then what we bought at O'Reillys for soo much cheaper. Total rip off, charge more in labor but dont be dishonest with part pricing to bump up the price. I also asked for a 5 star inspection because my car felt like it was on the verge of breaking down. I told them I would pay for any extra costs out of pocket, I just need my car fixed. They obviously did not thurally inspect my car AT ALL. They gave me no recommendations, they only rushed to use up the grant amount. Two months later my car breaks down and I had to spend 3600 for a brand new engine. If they did their jobs correctly and listened to their customer then maybe they could have prevented or foreseen the issue in my car before it completley needed a new engine. I called and complained and the man was extremely rude and told me Cars for Neighbors is actually parentered with them in their building so "go ahead" and call them because he is very close with the person that runs Cars for Neighbors. Basically what he meant in a smartass way was, nobody is going to care if you make a complaint. What a joke. Such a disgusting way to treat people and also to take the counties money like that and lie about fixing someones car is just plan theft. I am in the process of making a formal complaint to the county because this is just wrong. They should not partner with a place like this. I would never take my car here again not even for an oil change. If you want a trustworthy car repair shop where the manager is actually fair in pricing, knows cars and is KIND then go to Precision in Spring Lake Park, the manager Rollie there is a true professional. Unlike Meineke
