Honestly I can't say enough how disappointing it is to be forced to use this electric company. Their monopoly on electric service in this area wouldn't be so bad if they didn't use it to forego good customer service. I have been lied to by representatives over the phone, told that I could set up a payment plan I could afford, and then later given an ultimatum by another rep demanding payments I can't afford.
I've been told it's my fault my bill is so high because of running space heaters, but turning them off didn't lower my bill over the next couple cycles at all.
I was then told my bill is so high because it was really cold for 17 days. But I heat my house with wood in a basic stove that doesn't use electricity, and stopped running space heaters, so how do you figure it's because of the cold? Does cold weather affect my lights and refrigerator?
Perhaps the grossest thing about ECE is the cost of service. 12¢ a kwh is more than the national and state averages, which shouldn't be the case when you know the medium annual household income in this area is below average. "Basic cost of service" is almost $30... Who does this company think they're servicing?
Another reviewer said it nicely - nothing like having no choice in your electricity provider and getting screwed over anyway.
