My sons girlfriend brought her dog in 10/22/17 for a broken toe. They put a splint on it and said keep it dry. The put the cone on him (to Small). Since the cone was not the correct size he was able to reach it and lick it. That caused an infection. We of course got very worried. We brought him in on 10/30/17 saw a different vet was told this infection is common with splints. The vet pointed out that the cone was to small and that was why he was able to get at it. They said we need to let it air out and dry then we can have the splint put back on the next day. The infection drove him crazy he bent up the new bigger cone to get to it . It was a bloody mess. We were upset and worried. We brought him back the next day 10/31/17 again a different vet. I asked why they don't take their temperature because I was worried. The vet said fine we will take his temp snidely. Then he held the thermometer up and said see it's fine. WOW! Are you kidding! So the toe is still broke and the dog is miserable and after the snide attitude of the vet today will not go back there ever. Over 700.00 in to the leg and he is worse condition than when he was bought in.
11/1/17-Last night was bad. Yesterday when we were at the vet I asked him if Acepromazine and Simplicef on top of the Rimadyl would hurt him or make him sick. He said NO he should be fine. He was given the 1 1/2 Acepromazine and it knocked him out he could not get up. He ended up with diarrhea and didn't even wake up to go to the bathroom. Today he had diarrhea and even after he was done he acted like he still wanted to go. I am sure his stomach was cramping. Poor guy. To think he still has a broken toe that is no longer set and that process will have to be started all over again. He is going to a different clinic today because he is completely miserable. Another day of work missed by my sons girlfriend and myself to take turns being with him and get the other stuff done with the other animals on the hobby farm. Another sad day for all of us.
